Establishing shots

For those unfamiliar with the world of film and all its industry jargon, here's a brief explanation of what an establishing shot actually is. It is typically the first shot in a film or at the start of a new scene — often a wide shot of the space or environment in which the scene is about to take place. It can also be a camera movement, in which the director guides the viewer through the relevant space or setting.
