Subtitles and voice-overs in video

VidéPro also offers subtitling and voice-overs for videos — both for productions we create ourselves and for companies who want to add subtitles or a voice-over to their own footage. We can provide subtitles and voice-overs in a wide range of languages, making your video's message accessible to a much broader audience.

As an international business, it makes sound financial sense to invest in a video production or corporate video just once, and then extend its reach through subtitles or voice-overs in whichever languages you need.

We place great importance on the principle of 'picture matching message' in video. This means that what viewers see aligns with what they read and/or hear. This approach also helps the message land more effectively. When what's shown on screen doesn't match what's being said, our brains can become confused — and that means the message fails to come across clearly or stick in the memory.

Voice-over in all languages

Voice-overs

For voice-overs, we work exclusively with native speakers — people for whom the language truly is their mother tongue. We also brief our voice-over artists on the style that best suits the video. Should the script be delivered in a fast-paced, commercial tone, or in a calm, documentary-style manner? A voice-over can also add a little extra context to complement the visuals, provided it naturally fits within the story the video is telling.

Subtitles improve your discoverability

Subtitling

For subtitles, we also work with native speakers who handle the translations for us. Beyond helping companies reach audiences who speak a different language, there are several other compelling reasons to use subtitles in your video:

We have clients who want their videos subtitled specifically for use on social media channels. Here are three reasons why they choose to do so:

  1. Subtitles keep viewers watching for longer on average, which has an indirect positive effect on SEO.
  2. Even for viewers watching with the sound on, subtitles can make a video easier to follow and help the message stick.
  3. Many people watch videos without sound, for a variety of reasons (think of situations where audio would disturb those around them). With visuals and subtitles combined, the message still comes across loud and clear.

For social media, it's important to supply subtitles as a separate file so that Google can index the text. For videos intended for internal use or trade shows, for example, we burn the subtitles directly into the video file.
